MEDIA? Media as organized news outlets? Madison Avenue advertisements? Hollywood entertainment? Government propaganda? I don't think you can talk about "Media" as a monolith. Some of the comments in this blog point to various aspects of communication that affect society's perception, all under this "MEDIA" umbrella. The second item that needs definition is this "Post Modern" idea. In Art the “Modern” was defined as the era after WWII, and “Post Modern” after 1950. However, modern as a definition does not start or end at a specific point in time. Modern as in modern thought is an abstact concept adopted to try to define change or the differences between the "contemporary" and the Past. Thus "post modern" as a definition of culture seems rather incorrect and obscure. Contemporary becomes the past and the future becomes contemporary. Lastly, the development of technology (such as cloning, stem cell research, etc... ) may force a change in moral and social norms, these sociological changes do not happen because of “MEDIA” influence but becuase of the scientific developments that force society to re-define its laws and social constructs. ......some food for thought.
